“If you spend yourself out physically, you become exhausted; but spend yourself spiritually, and you get more strength” — Oswald Chambers.
Most realize that you have to have a strict discipline and a strong hand to exercise physically on a regular basis. We tend to decline. In the Spirit it’s doubly so and the sooner we realize it the better.
Look at our past spiritual walk. How many times have we seen spiritual increase and activity when things are difficult and we need a miracle from God? But why aren’t we living on that same level when things are going well? We tend to decline.
I’ve heard spiritual life described as a roller coaster, going up and down based on what struggles we have at the moment. When there are problems we pray, when all is well we forget.
But there is a secret I learned long ago — rather than allowing the pressures of life serve as our motivation to “get spiritual” why not live on the edge purposefully? Follow God so passionately until you need a miracle — not because of your problem or your need — but because of the deliberate pursuit of His perfect will.
Anything God asks you to do requires it. Live a deliberate spiritual life. Enoch did. One day he took a long walk with God and decided not to come back.
