The current situation in Donetsk Oblast is undergoing a bloody conflict. Russian forces have been advancing slowly destroying and leveling village by village on the way to their main goal – the occupation of the town of Pokrovsk. This has created life-threatening situations for many local civilians, some of whom already lost the roofs above their heads due to attacks and shellings. The most urgent need of the moment is evacuation.
Pastor Vadim Gulenko and his church from Cherkasy are making weekly trips to the frontlines to evacuate endangered people. In two recent trips, they evacuated 4 families from villages dangerously close to the warzone and combat areas. The family pictured below was rescued from their basement while their house above them was on fire!
A significant step forward is a working relationship between local churches and the Military Administration of Pokrovsk. Together, they coordinate groups of civilians who need to leave immediately. To make these evacuations happen, the pastor and his ministers need assistance with fuel which is where we come in – empowering Ukrainian pastors to do what they are called to do!
